ALMS - Monterey 6 Hours at Laguna Seca
Today at 5:30 EST (2:30PT), the newest endurance event of the American Le Mans begins at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway. The Monterey 6 hours is, as per usual, going to be covered by the crew at Radio Le Mans, but the ALMS has set up FREE live streaming of the entire event! It's limited to 10,000 people, so if you're late to the party you may end up locked out of the streaming, but it should be a really fantastic way to enjoy your Saturday.
Guy Smith put the Dyson Racing Lola Mazda on pole position, with the Biobutanol powered turbo-4 besting the rest of the field. The coupe should finally be a bit competitive now that they're no longer carrying an extra 30 kilos of weight around with them.
In GT, the Porsches were all a little off pace, with Ferrari taking row one (Risi on pole, with Jamie Melo putting in his usual top-shelf peformance) and the somewhat surprising Extreme Speed Ferrari of Scott Sharp in P2. Corvette took over the second row, and we have to go all the way back to eighth to find a Porsche. There we have the #45 from Flying Lizard, immediately followed by the #17 Falken Tire Porsche. It's a long race, but with all those cars up front 100% capable of a win, and all quite hungry for one, the Porsche crews will need to run a flawless event to get onto the podium, let alone grab the top step.
Don't forget! Sign up for FREE live video streaming.
