Americans in the FIA GT3 Championship. Better than F1...
Fourtitude.com is reporting that United Autosports, a newly formed FIA GT3 team, is ready to contest the 2010 championship with a pair of Audi R8 LMS models, fresh off the floor from Ingolstadt. I find it a tad ironic that an American team would choose to dump a metric ton of money into a two-car effort over in Europe, rather than contesting the ALMS over on our own side of the pond. But I suppose they couldn't run an Audi or two over here, at least not this year. Sponsorship is to come from Remington (guns? razors? they don't say), so I'm not sure what they're going to get out of it...I'm pretty sure the Europeans aren't so into the guns like we are over here, but I can't fault it too much. United Autosport is apparently going to also run a full-season team of vintage racers over here, so at least someone is spending money on Motorsport these days...
Either way, we'll be wishing them the best of luck this year, it'd be pretty awesome to see an American team go over to Europe and win some events!
