Sebring 2011; live updates from Wednesday to Saturday

12 Hours of Sebring 2010

In under a week's time, we'll be heading down to Sebring Florida for the second year in a row, and I for one can simply not wait. It's looking fantastic, with near 60 cars on the entry list, and the vast majority of those additional cars over last year's race have been gained in the prototype ranks. With Audi coming back after their absence in 2010, Flying Lizard coming back as strong as ever, and Falken with a much improved team working behind the scenes, we'll have plenty to cheer for.

12 Hours of Sebring 2010

Last year was our first trip that hallowed strip of sun-baked Florida, which is located more or less right in the middle between the Atlantic Ocean on the East and Gulf of Mexico on the West. It bears little to no resemblance to what you think of when you think of Florida (or I suppose what I think of, when I think of Florida)  - it's more like the Australian outback.

12 Hours of Sebring 2010

Dirt, dust, a few palm trees, lots of cows and not much else. Not that it matters, or that I'm complaining. It's a fantastic experience, and you can get a hell of a steak for just a few dollars down at Cowboys BBQ & Steak in Lake Okeechobee thanks to the close proximity of the cattle ranches.

GoPro Motorsports Hero BRO! Should prove to be a fun / interesting addition to our gear.

Of course our eye will be on the track, and for about 20 hours before and after, on the road. I just picked up a GoPro Hero HD camera to document the experience, and with a little luck I may manage some in-car time with team, who knows. At any rate, we're southward bound as of next Wednesday afternoon - we'll be updating live from the road via email posts here, twitter, and maybe even a live feed via Justin TV if we can get a decent enough signal at the track. Stay tuned, it's going to get interesting...

The 59th running of the 12 Hours of Sebring takes place on Saturday March 19th from 10:30am to 10:30pm. Catch ALL 12 HOURS live over at AmericanLeMans.com - of course it's better to see in person than on the boob-tube, so get your ass there if you've got the time and inclination; you won't regret it. Sebring Raceway is where to set the GPS.
